Greetings,
July has come and gone and we are into the last half of 2008.
We have many challenges that we are dealing with everyday. We are having almost 100
new people coming for food each month. Yesterday, we had 5 families to come after we
had closed. Each family had a different story, gas prices, totally out of food, etc. The last
two families, one with a small boy was crying because she got there late and thought she
was not going to get food. We took care of her and she was very appreciative. The next
lady we helped was driving a nice car and her immediate comment was, I can't get rid of
this car, we owe so much. She went on to say she had never asked for help before, again
was crying, thanking us for helping her (I told her it didn't matter what kind of car she
drove).
One of our first customers had been referred to us by a local business in town. It was a
lady and a little boy. When we pushed the grocery basket out to where they were, the little
boy just kept saying, wow, wow.. "Your dollars are not wasted here!!"
We also received a check from our local VFW for $8,000.00 to help pay for our sprinkler
system which should be started soon.
The electrician, Myron Watson, is starting wiring the building this week end. May God
bless you for helping us help others.
